Recycling Book Scene 4

Initial idea

I had taken the photo of the recycling on grass when I first thought about writing a book about recycling. Having Crumpet as the fall guy who gets things wrong is a common theme! It allows Elijah to be the teacher, which lends him authority and gives him a more positive image. He’s being a leader, which is a valued role in society. This is a concept called ‘social role valorisation’ (SRV) at work.

Spot the difference again! I’ll tell you … after filling in the connecting thought bubbles, I thought we needed a carton, so the OJ carton was added. Then the straws in the cans looked a bit odd, so we took those out. The lids on the bottles were rounded, but we have more square lids (looking from the side), so those had to change.

Final illustration

Finally the water was missing a ‘G’ as I figured it was meant to say ‘AGUA’ and I then noticed that a letter had been taken out of ‘FRUIT’, leaving behind ‘F U’ on the top right can. Eek! Glad I picked up on that one 🙂
